Privacy Policy
Last updated: 22 October 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Toy Hunt UK handles personal information when you use toyhunt.co.uk, contact us or enter our prize draw. Toy Hunt UK is an affiliate price-comparison and gift-guide website. We do not sell toys, take payment for toys or run the retailer checkouts we link to.
1. Who we are (data controller)
Data controller: P. Woolley, trading as Toy Hunt UK
Postal address: 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ
Email: admin@toyhunt.co.uk
Website: toyhunt.co.uk
For anything about privacy or data protection, email us with “Privacy Request” in the subject line.
2. What we collect
- Search queries: when you use the price search, the words you type are sent to our search service on toyhunt.co.uk so it can look up matching products in our retailers’ product feeds. We do not link searches to a name or account.
- Server logs: like any website, our hosting provider’s servers record technical information with each request, such as IP address, browser and device type, the page requested and the time. This is used for security, reliability and abuse prevention.
- Emails you send us: your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write.
- Prize draw entries: if you enter our free prize draw, your name and either your Facebook profile name and comment or your email address, plus, for the winner, the email address used to deliver the prize and any proof of age, identity or UK residence we ask for.
- Your saved Hunt list and privacy choice: stored only in your own browser (local storage). They are not sent to us. See our Cookie Policy.
We do not use analytics, advertising or social-media tracking scripts on toyhunt.co.uk, and we do not create user accounts.
3. Why we use it and our lawful basis
| Purpose | Lawful basis (UK GDPR) |
|---|---|
| Run the price search and keep the website secure and working | Legitimate interests |
| Reply to your emails | Legitimate interests, or steps you ask us to take |
| Run the prize draw, contact the winner and deliver the prize | Performance of a contract (the prize draw terms you accept by entering) |
| Remember your saved Hunt list on your device | Strictly necessary for a feature you asked for |
If we ever add non-essential analytics or advertising technology, we will ask for your consent first where the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) require it, and update this policy and our Cookie Policy.
4. Affiliate links and retailers
When you click a retailer link you leave Toy Hunt UK and go to the retailer, usually through an affiliate network’s tracking link. The network and the retailer record the click, normally using cookies or similar technology on their own websites, so they can credit the sale to us. They are responsible for that processing under their own privacy and cookie policies. We receive commission reports from the networks, but these do not tell us who you are.
The affiliate networks we use are Awin, Amazon Associates and Sovrn Commerce. We also hold a CJ Affiliate account, but there are no CJ links on the site at present. See our Affiliate Disclosure.
5. Who we share information with
- Hosting: the website is hosted by Hostinger, which processes server logs and stores the site’s files on our behalf.
- Email: our email provider stores the emails you send us.
- Prize draw: entry details are used only to run the draw and are not passed to anyone else, except that we may have to give the winner’s details to the Advertising Standards Authority if it asks (see the prize draw terms).
- Facebook: if you enter the prize draw on Facebook or interact with our Facebook Page, Meta processes your data under its own privacy policy. We only see what Facebook shows Page owners.
We do not sell personal information or use it for marketing.
6. International transfers
Some of our service providers may process information outside the UK. Where they do, the transfer must be covered by the safeguards UK data protection law requires, such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement.
7. How long we keep information
- Emails: only as long as we need to deal with your enquiry and keep a reasonable record of it.
- Prize draw entries: deleted within 30 days of the prize being delivered, apart from the winner’s first name and county, which may be published or kept to show the draw was fair (see the prize draw terms).
- Server logs: kept for the period set by our hosting provider for security and troubleshooting.
- Saved Hunt list: stays in your browser until you clear it.
8. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask for access to your personal information, and for it to be corrected or deleted. You can also ask us to restrict how we use it, object to how we use it, or give you a copy to move elsewhere. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Email admin@toyhunt.co.uk. We may need to confirm your identity before we respond, and we will normally reply within one month.
9. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, please contact us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO): ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, telephone 0303 123 1113.
10. Children
Toy Hunt UK is written for parents and gift buyers. The prize draw is open only to UK residents aged 18 or over.
11. Changes
We will update this policy when the site, our partners or the law change. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
